  • Handcrafted by GK created an absolutely wonderful murphy bed for us. From initial design meetings to installation, the process took less than a few weeks. With the design meeting, they were able to incorporate all our wants and requests to fit the space. Gordo and Rachel did the entire installation for us and even came back to do touch ups after it was complete. The final product is incredibly high quality and the price was very reasonable. Would highly recommend for custom furniture.

  • For months, I looked for a console that was deep enough for my bearded dragon enclosure. I was lucky enough to find a Facebook recommendation and contacted Gordon at Handcrafted by GK. The project and communication was seamless from start to finish. I sent Gordon some ideas and he sent back several designs. After finalizing the plan, we picked the wood and stain and Gordon got to work. He sent progress updates and pictures until the console was finished.   • We needed a dining table for our condo in Chicago, but we had a small space between the kitchen island and the living room. Our kitchen island is 36 inches high and we already had stools for that height counter. We discussed with Gordo the idea of making a square dining table, the same height as the kitchen counter, so we could use our existing stools. Also the table legs needed to fold so we could store the table when not in use. Gordo designed and built a square, walnut tabletop with folding legs (like a card table) that perfectly matches our countertop height. The table is both beautiful and functional and the legs can be folded and the entire table stored in the extra bedroom closet. We are extremely pleased with this custom piece of furniture! If you need a custom piece of furniture or a specifically designed piece, Handcrafted by GK is the place to go.

  • We found Gordo at a local art fair where he was selling custom cutting boards. My husband and I were on the hunt for a new fireplace mantel, and based on the quality of cutting boards, we decided to ask if he’d ever made a mantle before.  This was Gordo’s first fireplace mantle, but you’d never know it - he was up to date on all fireplace codes and regulations, he was incredibly detail oriented with measurements, and he helped in searching for the right design for our mantle based on our living room aesthetic.  Aside from the beautiful fireplace mantle that we now have, the best part in working with Gordo was his customer service. He was extremely responsive, kept us up to date on the project every step of the way, and made sure we absolutely loved our mantle before concluding the project. 10/10 would hire Gordo again!!
